Ever since I started working in education in the 1990-ies, I have always wondered about getting the best care to children in need. Treatment, remediation, and counselling in schools bring students up to a certain level, however, what happens when the parents or caregivers are unaware of how to help their child?
During my doctoral dissertation journey between 2012 and 2015, I looked at the quality of classroom climates. I noticed one major aspect missing from professional development that was offered to novice teachers: how to build a therapeutic relationship.
With the launch of STG Health Services Inc. I am hoping to pull together essential resources and services to start addressing the needs of children in Saskatchewan through educational, psychological, biological, and social lenses.
