Ever since I started working in education in the 1990s, I have always wondered how to provide the best care for children in need. Treatment, remediation, and counseling in schools bring students up to a certain level. However, what happens when parents or caregivers are unaware of how to help their child?
During my doctoral dissertation journey between 2012 and 2015, I examined the quality of classroom climates. I noticed one major aspect missing from professional development offered to novice teachers: how to build therapeutic relationships.
With the launch of STG Health Services Inc., I hope to bring together essential resources and services to start addressing the needs of children in Saskatchewan through educational, psychological, biological, and social lenses.
