ADHD Skill Training

Comprehensive research-based ADHD Skills Training for Adults

Perhaps you have been wondering about managing your emotions and impulsivity and how you can effectively deal with these symptoms of ADHD. More and more research has demonstrated the essential role of Mindfulness to help clients with ADHD “Anchor their Attention.”

ADHD symptoms tend to throw the mind out of balance.
A 1-minute mindfulness practice helped settle my ADHD-throttled mind.

As unlikely as it might sound, mindfulness meditation can be highly effective in helping people live successfully with ADHD. While most people with ADHD think meditation is impossible for someone with such a busy and disorganized mind, this is actually the reason it is so beneficial. Using specially modified exercises designed for people with ADHD, complete stillness or the ability to “empty your mind” is not required. Although medication treatment is effective for many individuals with ADHD, including adolescents adults, there remains an understandable need to explore and develop skills that can complement or even substitute for medication.

This Mindfulness is a great way to learn how to manage the emotions that come with depression. It is also a great way to learn how to avoid the triggers that cause these emotions. I recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn how to manage their emotions in a healthy way.

I have been struggling with my mental health for years. I have tried many different treatments but nothing has helped me. I heard about DBT mindfulness training and decided to try it out. I am so glad that I did because it has helped me immensely. I feel like my life is finally getting better.

I always felt like I was on edge and nothing could calm me down. My therapist suggested that I try DBT Mindfulness Skill training. It has helped me tremendously with my anxiety. It is a great way to relieve stress and to just take a break from your day for a few minutes for yourself.

    Introduction to Mindfulness Awareness Practices

Mindfulness Awareness Practices (MAPs) for ADHD is an eight-week class. This program provides an overview of the comprehensive causes and treatments for ADHD as well as a review of the neuroscience behind it all, including mindfulness-based interventions. The class also educates about the effects ADHD has on people and their executive function skills such as daily life management. Throughout every one of these classes, participants are also given guided mindful exercises in order to help them with concentration as that can be difficult for those with ADHD or anyone new to meditation!

“Mindfulness strategies are not new practices, but we are making them more accessible to people who have difficulty sustaining attention.”

Mindfulness sounds simple, but most people go through life with a tunnel vision-like experience. We generally tune out to our actual experiences and get distracted by thoughts of those occurrences. Most of us are so conditioned to engage with our thoughts rather than the present moment that we can easily lose sight of what is happening right in front of us.
